Give The Doc A Call!

Dr. Adolph Brown III was less than the ideal student learner. Although an intelligent lad who achieved honors in all subjects, he was a behavior challenge early on. Brown began his journey in a Head Start program for low-income children and families. He was afforded the aforementioned opportunity as a result of being raised by a single-parent mother with five children in a housing project in Virginia Beach, Va. As a result of the many issues and concerns educators had with Brown's behavior, his mother enrolled him in martial arts at the age of 7. At which time, martial arts averted his punching of peers as he began to kick his peers. Although small for his age, Brown was commonly summoned to neighborhood brawls because of his eagerness to display his new found skills. Brown was eventually grouped as a juvenile delinquent in his community.

Brown learned at a very young age that life was fragile. His only brother died when Brown was 11, and a host of friends became victims of the mean streets. Brown received numerous directives, advice, guidance and words of wisdom from educators, friends and relatives.

As a direct result of the "SECRETS," Brown was able to overcome whatever obstacles lay in his path as well as inspire others to do the same. With two black belts in martial arts, a bachelor of arts from the College of William and Mary in anthropology and psychology and a doctorate degree in clinical psychology from the Virginia Consortium for Professional Psychology, Brown travels the country spreading the "SECRETS" and his "B.A.D." (Better Attitude Development) strategies to young people and those dedicated to helping them. He also speaks on interventions that work for today's youth "PARENTING 2000," and "SKILLS INSTEAD OF PILLS" and on other issues related to "DIVERSITY APPRECIATION", "VICTORY OVER VIOLENCE", "MALE RESPONSIBILITY," and "GIVING CHILDREN AND FAMILIES A HEAD START."

Brown is a renowned motivational speaker, a featured expert on child and family issues for television and radio programs, as well as president and CEO of the Child and Family Wellness Centers in Virginia Beach, Va., Norfolk, Va., and Newport News, Va. He is also a child psychologist, professor and the former chairman of the Department of Psychology at Hampton University in Hampton, Va. His greatest accomplishment is being the father of four children.
