Robert Myers
Child and Family Psychologist Child Development Institute was founded by Dr. Robert Myers. Realizing the unlimited potential of the Internet to provide useful information to parents, he decided to utilize this method to provide parent education that is current, relevant and easy to attain. Also, the amount of materials such as books, tapes, games and computer software available to parents for parent education and to provide self-help for their children and teenagers has grown exponentially. The Child Development Institute Resource Center provides a select set of materials that have been found to be beneficial by a panel of child psychologists and pediatricians. Working with students, teachers and schools as a consultant for more than 20 years, Dr. Myers has developed a number of programs that have proven to be successful in helping children with various learning problems. These programs along with consulting services are now available to schools across the nation through the Child Development Institute. Dr. Myers also has developed programs that provide clinically excellent yet cost effective treatment for various behavioral, emotional and educational disorders affecting children and teens. These programs are now available to physicians, medical groups, HMOs and managed care companies through the Child Development Institute. | |
Doctor Robert Myers earned his Ph.D. from the University of Southern California. He is a licensed psychologist and a licensed marriage, family, child counselor in California. He has been married for 28 years and has two children: a 23-year-old daughter and a 19-year-old son. In addition to his 20 years of private practice he has also held a number of consulting positions. These have included: clinical director for several youth service inpatient units at College Hospital and Charter Hospital of Long Beach; consulting psychologist for Miller Children's Hospital at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center; clinical instructor (pediatrics), UCI College of Medicine; Adjunct Professor, Rosemead Graduate School of Psychology at BIOLA University; Director of Mental Health, Universal Care (HMO). Prior to entering private practice and consulting, Dr. Myers was a faculty member at Los Angeles Harbor College for 13 years. He also has provided community lectures on parenting and other topics. Dr. Myers has been a talk show host on KIEV and KORG in Southern California. He has also appeared as a guest on many radio and television talk shows locally and nationally. He also was a regular columnist for Parents and Kids Magazine. He has recently authored Focus: A Psychoeducational Program for children and young teens with attention deficit disorder. Currently, Dr. Myers is founder and director of Child Development Institute. This organization provides information to parents, educators and healthcare professionals via its Web site and through the print and electronic media. He also serves as a consultant to schools and healthcare organizations. | |
