Stacy A. Robarge
Parent Educator![]() "My mission statement is the same as the mission statement for Parent as Teachers International. I believe that parents are a child's first and best teachers. Parents need to take an active roll in raising their children. It is too common these days for parents to entrust the raising of their children to schools, childcare providers, or churches. Parents that are actively involved with their children from day one usually stay actively involved."
Stacy A. Robarge earned an associate of arts degree form Johnson County Community College in 1994. From 1996 until 1998 she studied at the University of Kansas in the department of Human Development and Family Life. Stacy graduated from KU in 1998 with a degree in Early Childhood/Children with Disabilities. Her area of focus was autism. While at KU she participated in the Early Childhood Autism Program and did studies on language acquisition and echolalia. After graduation Stacy began working for Shawnee Mission Schools as a Parent Educator for the Parents As Teachers Program. With this program she has been trained in birth to three home visiting and neuroscience curriculum, supporting and working with teen parents, supporting and working with families of children with special needs, and storybook curriculum for special needs play groups. She visits 52 families as well as teaches parenting classes to teen mothers at a local high school, and facilitates playgroups for typical and special needs children. Robarge has been trained to administer the Denver II developmental exam and the Preschool Language Scale 3. She is a certified child passenger safety technician for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration with two years experience installing and instructing parents about car seat safety. As a child passenger safety advocate and technician Robarge has participated in several Safe Kids child safety checkpoints in Kansas. She assists all the families that she visits with installation of their car seats. Many of her colleagues have referred families to her for assistance with child safety seats. Robarge is active in Safe Kids of Johnson County as well as the local Safe Kids chapter in her home county. She has taught classes in child passenger safety to parent educators, teen mothers and Girl Scout troops. She will be eligible for her instructor license this year and plans to take advantage of that opportunity. Robarge lives with her new husband and children.
